Built in time for the start of the 2005 academic year, Harwood Arena quickly became the hub of activity for the athletic department. Harwood is the home court of the basketball and volleyball programs as well as housing the athletics department offices. The arena is named after Mr. Lowell Harwood in honor of his leadership and generosity to the University. When set up for competition, Harwood has a seating capacity of 2,500. The facility also features an elevated 1/8th of a mile jogging track. Harwood Arena has appeared on television in a number of different uses. Basketball games have been televised in the arena on ESPNU, MSG and Vios1 TV. Powerade filmed a national commercial in the Arena and the lobby area was transformed into an Airport Terminal that was used in the HBO Film "Taking Chance" that starred Kevin Bacon. On top of those media credits, former President Bill Clinton spoke at a political rally in the Arena on September 29, 2005 and in 2007 comedian and actor Katt Williams performed in concert in the venue.
